Bodog Poker Blogger Tournaments Series 

It was an eventful night of online poker at the Bodog poker tables, where our 14 TOC qualifiers went to battle for what seemed an eternity to try and win tonight's grand prize of T$2000 + a $100 online casino credit.

The final table came down to Smokkee, wilwonka, TonySoprano, CarnePicante, CEMfromMD, MiamiDon, APOSEC72, FishEater2000 (Waffles) and StB, but it was poker blogger TonySoprano who took the final hand in a heads up match with wilwonka.

Going in the final hand, TonySoprano held a 4-1 chip lead. With the blinds at 500/1000, wilwonka picked up AKo and raised to 2500 preflop. TonySoprano reraised to 8001 with A8o. wilwonka then shoved his remaining chip stack in the middle and TonySoprano called with wilwonka looking to double up.

Unfortunately for wilwonka, the poker gods failed to comply and the flop came down Ad-8c-4h. While wilwonka was hoping for a miracle to stay alive, the 7d hit the turn and 8d spiked on the river giving TonySoprano a full house and the Final TOC win of the series.

31 poker bloggers suited up to play in the final qualifying tournament of the Bodog Blogger Tournament Series and for the second consecutive tournament in a row, it was blogger TonySoprano who took down the final hand of the night.

TonySoprano had a 4-1 chip lead going into the final hand. With the blinds at 400/800, Numenor80 open shoved his stack with As7h. TonySoprano picked up a monster hand HU, 99 and snap called. The flop came 10-Q-J giving Numenor80 hope with a gutshot straight draw in addition to his over card. The turn brought another Q giving Numenor80 even more outs but, the river bricked out with a 7c and TonySoprano takes the victory.

The final qualifying tournament is over so what happens now?

The total points of each poker blogger who participated in the series will determine what players will move on to play the Tournament Of Champions. The bloggers that place in the top 15% of all participants on the Tournament Leaderboard will receive an email invitation to participate in the TOC this Thursday December 18th, 2008. Start Time 9:05 PM ET.

There is also the Last Chance Tournament to qualify for the TOC for players who participated in 3 or more qualifying tournaments and do not place in the top 15% of the TLB finishers. Those eligible players will receive an invitation to play in the LCT that occurs on Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 starting at 9:05 PM ET. The top 3 finishers of this tournament will then win a seat to play in the Final TOC on Thursday.

Poker bloggers who place in the Final TOC will be awarded the following tournament prizes:

2nd place: T$500
3rd place: T$250
4th place: T$100
5th place: T$50

Tonight's T$109 bounty to play in Bodog's $100,000 Guaranteed poker tournament was on our very own Bodog blogger series tournament host Smokkee. It was poker blogger TonySoprano who busted him out with a lucksack hand played at the final table. He later went on to win the final hand of the evening taking down tonight's Bodonkey.

Going into the final hand, TonySoprano had a better than 2-1 chip lead against wilwonka. With the blinds at 400/800, wilwonka raised to 1800 from the SB with AKo and TonySoprano called with 6s9s. The flop came 6d-4d-8s and wilwonka cbet 3600.

TonySoprano reraised to 13,600 effectively forcing wilwonka to go all-in and wilwonka shoved his remaining stack. wilwonka did not improve and TonySoprano took it down with middle pair. He now sits in 9th place from 20th on the poker blogger tournament leaderboard with 280 points.

Here is how the hand that busted Smokkee out went down.

Smokkee had just lost the majority of his stack running AK into wilwonka’s KK 5-handed on the final table bubble while another player was all-in on with a short stack going out in 10th. Smokkee shipped his remaining chips in the middle on the 1st hand at the final table.

Three players then flat called and TonySoprano shoved to isolate. The 3 limpers folded and Smokkee was HU showing 4d5c against TonySoprano’s QcJc. The flop came Qd-4h-8c, giving TonySoprano top pair. Smokkee did not improve and finishes in 9th.

GG Everyone. Only one more tournament left next Tuesday December 16th before the Last Chance Tournament and then the TOC. All players who qualify to play in either tournament will receive an invitation via email to play. So players be sure to check your email next week for your invite!

The other victory of the night goes to MiamiDon for taking 1st place in the money after a showdown with SnappyLC in the final hand of the night.

Going into the final hand, MiamiDon held a 2-1 chip lead. With the blinds at 1000/2000, SnappyLC limped in from the SB with JhTh. MiamiDon monkey shoved with K2o and SnappyLC called off his remaining stack.

SnappyLC then flopped top pair with MiamiDon flopping a bottom pair on a 2d-9d-Jc flop. This gave SnappyLC a huge lead, but a deuce binked on the river card to give MiamiDon trip 2’s and the win. He now sits in 2nd place on the poker leaderboard with 416 points.

With the blinds at 200/400, Iggy was the shortest stack at the table with $2250 in chips. Nate Avenson raised it up from MP to 900. smokkee then smooth called with KcQc as did Iggy with AhQh. The flop came Ac-2c-Jc giving Iggy top pair good kicker and Smokkee had stone cold nuts.

Nate Avenson then minbet the flop and smokkee smooth called while Iggy shoved the rest of his chips in. Nate Avenson called Iggy’s reraise, but folded to smokkee’s shove. Iggy needed runners to stay alive, but the board bricked out and smokkee pocketed Iggy’s T$109 bounty to play in Bodog's $100,000 Guaranteed Tournament.

With a better than 4-1 chip lead and the blinds at 500/1000, ICrushBloggers raised to 2600 with 2-2. Newinnov then limped in from the button with 8h9h and called to see a flop of 9d4cAc. ICrushBloggers bet 3300 on the flop and Newinnov shoved all his chips in the middle as a HUGE favorite to double up.

The turn brought a harmless 6s, but the 2c dropped on the river giving ICrushBloggers a set of 2’s and 1st place in the money. This victory also moves him up from 29th place to 18th spot on the poker tournament leaderboard.

Going into the final hand, nzgreen held a monster 5-1 chip lead. With the blinds at 500/1000, scottc25 minimum raised to 2k with “the tourist” (A7o). nzgreen shoved his GINORMOUS stack in the middle with a massive overbet holding A9o and dominating scottc25’s holdings. scottc25 called off the rest of his chips and it was off to the races.

The flop came J-8-9 rainbow giving nzgreen the advantage with middle pair, but scottc25 had a gutshot draw. The poker gods failed to answer scott25's prayers and nzgreen took it down putting him first in the money. Both bloggers now sit in 10th and 11th place on the tournament series leaderboard.

Here is how the final hand to victory played out, words from our 2-time poker blogger champion himself:

"I tried to pick up as many chips as I could on the bubble, unfortunately Molokai was on the same mission and we kept bumping heads. I was extremely lucky to knock out Scottc25 on the bubble when my AJs outdrew his KK. Molokai open-raised 4x, I called and Scottc25 made it another 2400 to go. Molokai folded his rags and I called.

Flop came J-high and I put Scottc25 all-in. An Ace popped off on the turn and he was out. Yestbay1 was the short stack at the time and squeeked into 3rd. Molokai and I continued to battle it out while Yestbay1 mostly just stayed out of our way. I outflipped Yestbay1 a short while later and we got HU.

I will say that Molokai played extremely well while I was at his table. After several hands, I had Molokai outchipped almost 2-1 and looked down at 6-6 in the BB. He raised and I shoved. He thought for a bit and I felt he might fold but, he eventually called with A-9o. I binked a 6 right on the flop which sealed the win for me. Vgg Molokai."

Our champ now sits in 1st place on the Bodog blogger series leaderboard with 339 points. 2nd to him is poker blogger CarnePicante with 324 points and in 3rd spot is blogger APOSEC72 with 309 points.
